Optical fiber fusion splicer is a high-tech equipment that combines optical, electronic technology with high precision machinery. It is mainly used for the construction and maintenance of optical cables in optical communication.
It uses laser to melt two individual optical fibers, then push towards with slow speed, and fuse them as one optical fiber.
This requires laser’s focal point is exactly on the spot two optical fibers meet.
If the focal point is not on point, the power and energy of laser is not enough to melt.
Thus it needs a gearbox stepper motor with a lead screw. A stepper motor can be operate precisely, and with a gearbox, the output speed is much slower, to achieve slow high precision movement.
With rotational movement on lead screw, a slower linear movement can be implement, to move focal point slowly.
